PIXELEON '26 – All-Island Graphic Design Competition

Guidelines & Regulations | Organized by Nalanda College Science Society

Open exclusively to Grade 12 & Grade 13 students.
All submissions must be individual work; group submissions are not permitted.
Each participant may submit only one (1) entry.
Any number of individual students from invited schools may participate.

Theme: "From Seed to Cosmos: The Evolution of Ancient Thought"
Description: Select one specific scientific or mathematical concept originated by an ancient civilization and visually portray its journey—showing how a simple foundational idea evolved over time, broadened in scope, and transformed into a massive, essential element of modern science with expansive real-world applications today.

Final Artwork Format: Must be exported as a high-resolution .jpeg, .jpg, or .png file.
Design File Format: Must be exported as a design project file of the software used to create it (e.g., .psd, .ai, etc.).
Asset Package & Compression: The final artwork, design project files, stock elements, background images, vectors, textures, and assets used during creation must be compressed together into a single .rar or .zip archive.
Maximum Package Size: Total size of the compressed archive must not exceed 1 GB.

File Naming Structure:
Pixeleon_[Participant Name]_[Grade]_[School Name].rar
Example: Pixeleon_PasinduPerera_Grade12_Nalanda College.rar
Submission Method: Uploaded via the official form provided by the organizing committee.
Deadline: 25th of October (Late entries will be automatically rejected).
Awards: Winners will be recognized and awarded at the Annual Science Day of Nalanda College.

Originality: Entries must be original creations produced specifically for PIXELEON and must not have been entered into any previous competition.
Strict Anti-AI Rule: Generative AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, DALL-E, Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT image features, Canva AI generators) are strictly forbidden. Any entry found containing AI-generated elements will be immediately disqualified.
Asset Verification: The submitted compressed package will be reviewed by the judging panel to verify asset usage and authenticity.

Submissions will be evaluated by an expert panel to select the Most Creative Design (no public voting or popular design categories) based on:

Relevance: Depth and clarity in visually portraying how an ancient scientific/mathematical concept broadened into modern science and its expansive applications.
Originality: Innovative visual metaphor, unique storytelling, and artistic approach.
Technical Execution: Effective composition, color harmony, typography, and visual balance.
Visual Impact: Overall power, artistic depth, and elegance of the visual narrative.

Participants grant Nalanda College Science Society the right to display, publish, and showcase submissions for promotional, exhibition, and event-related purposes.
Decisions made by the Panel of Judges and the Executive Committee of the Nalanda College Science Society shall be final, absolute, and binding.
